Diet Fiber, Vitamins and Minerals
Vitamins and minerals are controversial. Some people say you should and do get what you need from what you eat. But, that is true only if you eat right, and you have a body that handles itself well. I happen to have a body that will not retain iron or potassium very well, so I need to supplement my diet to maintain them. Stress and exercise will lessen your vitamin levels, too. So, I say take your vitamins; they have the building blocks you need to grow. I recommend natural verses artificially made vitamins and minerals.
If you are over 40, consider vitamins modified for your age, and those specifically for being male or female. Don’t take more than the recommended daily value, more does not mean better; some vitamins you eliminate daily, others are stored, and you can store too much, poisoning your system. If the "multi-vitamin" does not give you 100 percent of a certain vitamin or mineral, supplement it to total 100 percent.
Supplements
Do not take weight loss supplements. Most contain caffeine, ephedrine, and ginseng; all they do is speed you up, increase your heart rate, make you jumpy, and lose water weight. You’ll lose weight, even some fat, but you won’t keep it off in the long run. When you stop taking them, your metabolism slows back down, and you’ll actually gain weight and fat. You don’t need a pill to increase your mental capabilities; you need to use your mental muscles. Wasting money on some "natural" herbs to make yourself smart shows just how not smart you are. If you are a man, there are some supplements that help with prostrate health, but you need to get checked by your doctor first. Some of them may be too strong for your system.
If you are a woman past age 40, consult your doctor about your estrogen levels. Some women need estrogen supplements, but there are health risks, such as breast cancer, associated with them. Often, a woman who exercises vigorously increases her natural testosterone levels, and this can affect or completely halt your menstrual cycles, so be careful, and stay in touch with your physician. Never take steroids in any form or for any reason, except by order of your doctor, and never for body building purposes. It’s stupid, it’s not natural, and when you stop, all those muscles will fade away. In my Gym, if you are caught using or a known user of steroids, you’ll be escorted off the premises permanently. If you are over 40 years of age, consider supplementing your diet with Melatonin, less than 3mg a day. Melatonin is a hormone your body produces that helps you sleep and slows aging. As you grow older, your body produces less of it.
Sleep
If you are a man, when you are asleep your body sends blood to your penis, keeping it in shape, too. So, men, get your sleep. |
| Avoid things that stimulate before bedtime. Do not exercise right before your bedtime; it speeds up your system, making it difficult to relax and get to sleep. Avoid caffeine several hours before bedtime for the same reasons. Alcohol may seem to relax you at first, but consume too much and it will stimulate, and you won’t sleep deeply. | ![]() |
There are things that can help you get to sleep. It is true that warm milk before bedtime will make you sleepy, due to some enzymes in the milk. Melatonin supplements can help. Lowering light intensity several hours before bedtime, relaxing music, or reading before bedtime can contribute to restful sleep. The afterglow of sex will lead to sleep.

Sex
ello, Gay or Lesbian Christian. Did you come to this section of the article first? Hmmmm. Why? HaHa. I suggest you go back and read from the beginning to this point. You will discover many things about health and body care that will influence sex. Then, arrive at this section, and read it in its proper context. As a Gay Christian, your life is not focused on sex, but properly see it as one part, in balance with your total self.
True confession time. I learned something unexpected about myself by exercising.
First, my sex drive has slowed slightly. I didn’t notice right away, because I was busy exercising. I’m just not as horny as I used to be. I now wonder if I’ve been horny most of my life because I was not expending energy. If I worked out as a youth, then maybe I would have spent less time alone with myself... well, you know.
Second, eye candy. Yes, I see nice men and women at the Gym. Most are not Greco-Roman muscle studs and beauties. But, now and then, there are the nice bodies. Now, you would think seeing such would make you hornier, but they don’t. Maybe it’s like working in a candy factory, and being around it makes you not desire it as much?
So, if you are someone who has difficulty channeling your sex drive positively, whether a man or woman, then perhaps you should consider how you expend your physical energy, if you do at all. You may want to consider athletics and exercise as a way of channeling your sexuality positively. Instead of turning to... you know... instead turn to a weight machine, and enjoy the room view.
If you have a lack of sex interest or drive, consult your doctor. In the majority of cases, there is no physical reason. If you are a man, if you wake up in the morning, or notice during the night, you have an erection, then your sexual difficulties may not be physical. Some physical reasons related to lessened sex drive is hormone problems. If you have an under-active metabolism, this can lead to a lessened sex drive. Some medications people take for other reasons have sexual side effects, too. Seeking "magic pill" medications to supposedly increase sexual drive may postpone dealing with the real problem. You should talk to a counselor or your doctor. If there is a physical reason, they can help.
If you’ve read most of my website, you’ve read my discussions on the role of sex in the Gay Christian’s life. Again, it is to be done in Love, never abusing self or other people, and leading to the edification, growth, and profit of you and your significant other. If you walk in your sexuality outside of God’s best for you, then I strongly recommend you get your sexual focus into balance as well as your body. Just as you can harm your body by what you eat and drink, you can also harm it by what you do, including sex.
Don’t ever take "poppers," inhalling chemicals for sexual enhancement; they destroy your immune system, make you look stupid, because you are, you’ve killed brain cells.
I don’t need to discuss sexually transmitted diseases or sexually dysfunctional behaviors and activities; I assume you know the basics of them. But, I want to take a moment to remind especially the lesbians, that you are not immune from many of them, including HIV/AIDS. Basically, if the person you are with does not value your health, that person does not value you as a person. You take responsibility for your own sexual heath and reproduction. Never engage in activities or behaviors that demean, nor use self or other people. The best sex is always with the one you love for a lifetime. You engage in sex not to get off, but to show your dedication, devotion, and commitment to the other. Trust me, and you’ll have a happy and rewarding sexual life.
And remember, vigorous sex burns calories.
