![]() Hair and Scalp, Proper and Enjoyable Bathing
You should use conditioner on your hair at least weekly, depending on if it’s naturally dry, oily or normal; the oilier your hair, the less conditioner you’ll need. Women wash their hair less, but they should always consider the health of their hair, especially if they use hair dryers or curling irons. If you color your hair, you’ll need to condition it regularly. Keep your hair conditioned and moisturized.
![]() Don’t use shampoo and conditioner combined; too much conditioner builds up in the hair, clogging the hair pores. Always use the same brand of shampoo and conditioner.
Consider a bath. Try scented soaps, bath oils, and bath salts. Light a few scented candles. Use soft music. Relax. Enjoy a bath with your lifemate. Come on men, you can take a bath; go ahead, it will not hurt. You used to love baths when you were a little boy. HaHa.
When you wash your hair wash the scalp as much, if not more than the hair. This removes excess dead skin, and helps keep the hair healthy. Especially if you are a man, you don’t want to do anything to contribute to your hair loss, like clogging up the hair follicle pores.
![]() As a man, if you have your hair, enjoy it. It may be fashionable to have it cut really short, or even shave it bald, but don’t. You’ll have years to enjoy your hair’s absence; don’t enjoy its absence prematurely. I thought I was losing my hair once, so I let it grow long. My hair stopped falling out and I cut it back to normal length. But, I’d never cut my hair buzz short, I want to enjoy it for as long as I can. Coloring hair has nothing to do with sexual orientation, being masculine or feminine, it has to do with hair color. Have fun with your hair; enjoy it. If you’re turning gray, and don’t think of yourself as gray, then don’t look gray. Watch the level of ammonia in the product, which can damage the hair with time. If you’re going to dye your hair, have a professional do it.
If you want to color your beard or mustache, I’ve found the use of Miss Clairol Loving Care Level One colorants, sold for general hair, to be more effective than the colorants sold for men beards and mustaches. It washes out in about a week, you only need to touch it up now and then, it takes less time than you spend in the shower to set up, and soaks in better than other brands. It’s also great for coloring eyebrows, too. Don’t forget your eyebrows; if you color your eyebrows, people are less likely to think you color your hair.
If you "need" to color chest or other body hair, then I recommend Revlon ColorSilk, because it has no ammonia to burn your skin. It will last about a month before it begins to fade. Follow the directions and time lengths for normal hair, just apply to your body hair instead. If you believe it worth the time to stand completely bare for twenty minutes in the shower with color all over your body, then it’s worth the results.
Nails, Hands, and Feet
Always keep your toenails short, your socks will last longer, and your significant other will last longer in the same bed with you if his or her legs aren’t scratched nightly. Use cuticle remover to reduce the need to clip skin around the nails. Push your cuticles back and remove the excess with a stick.
Keep your nails short; especially if you are working out with weights, you don’t want long nails. Test your lifestyle and your nail strength. Nails should never be longer than a quarter inch beyond the end of your finger. If they break or split, then file them flush with your finger length. Women should not wear artificial nails. Artificial nails prevent your nails from breathing, and can kill them; plus, the chemicals they use to attach and remove the nails hurt your natural nails. Long nails are not worth the price of damaged real nails for the rest of your life. Men can and are painting their nails... again. It’s not a masculine or feminine thing; it’s a nail thing. You will find it more acceptable to paint your toenails than fingernails.
Men, if you are going to be daring in a daring world, and choose to wear fingernail polish, choose colors that are clear, earthy, metal, or neutral colors, which draw attention to you, and not to your hands. For men, painting just your little or index finger is often enough, all ten fingers might be more than some people can handle seeing.
Men should choose toenail polish colors which are earthy, metal, or neutral colors; if you want to turn heads, you can wear red. No matter what color you wear, you will turn heads, especially if you live in areas or cities not used to seeing men wearing nail polish. Whatever the color, you will find it more acceptable to wear nail polish on your toenails than your fingernails. Have fun; I personally like it, and like seeing men wearing toenail polish.
If you choose to paint your nails, learn how to paint a nail right and they’ll always be right. You only need an undercoat if you wear red nail polish, because it can dye the nails with time. The first coat of nail polish should always be thin, the second coat not heavy but an even coat. Start painting the nail left of center, at the back of the nail stroking straight to the end going along the side of the nail. Then go back to the center point and do the other side of the nail. Finish with a smooth stroke or two from the center point to the end along the middle of the nail.
The best brand of nail polish on the market, which gives smooth, no line strokes, is O.P.I., which does not need a top coat. Other brands, finish the nail with a strong clear topcoat. The strongest topcoat on the market is Seche Vite. To remove nail polish use non-acetone based polish removers, it won’t hurt your nails.
Take a bath now and then, instead of showers all the time, just to let your feet soak. When you get out of the shower or tub now and then, take a clean dry towel, sit down, and rub and dry massage your feet, adding some foot lotion, too.
Lastly, every once in a while, go to a Salon and have your nails, hands, or feet professionally done and pampered. The first time may seem awkward, but you’ll feel wonderful, and that wonderful feeling will spread to the rest of you, too. Women don’t go to Salons just because they’re women; they go because it feels good. So, men, go have fun!
How you take care of your nails, hands, and feet say a lot about how you take care of yourself and other people. If your feet, hands, and nails are dirty, broken, discolored, too long, bitten off, you can see what kind of image you are portraying to other people. Take care of your nails, feet, and hands, and they will take care of you.
