veryone seems to "know" what Christianity is, but few can agree about how to live it. It's easy if you follow the original model, Jesus; it's easy to get off base if you take your focus off of Him. Much of what people think is Christianity is really religion. There is a difference. If you are not sure what the differences are, I suggest you read my article True Verses False Christianity, and then return to these pages to learn how to live a healthy and productive Christian Life.
| Oh, by the way... I know this article is several pages long, but you'll find reading it from beginning to end to be worth the time and effort. These pages are here to help and inspire you. So, please continue on to the next page, read the entire article. You can even download it, and read it offline. Thanks, Ben |

ou cannot be a Gay Christian if you are not a Christian; your sexual orientation may not be chosen, but being a Christian is a choice. If you have not been able to reconcile your faith and your sexuality, or have been told by people you cannot be both Christian and Gay, that being Gay or Lesbian is a "sin," "abomination," or other negative names, I strongly recommend you read or reread How You Can Be A Gay Christian, allow God to minister to your heart, show your mind the Truth of God.
Being Christian does not mean being raised in a Christian home, going to Church all your life (just because you live on a farm doesn't mean you're a farmer), or trying to live a good life. How many times have you heard, "Christians don't dance, go to movies," or "smoke, drink, play cards, or fool around, etc.?" Do you know what is wrong with these sayings? They leave Jesus out; wrongly reduce Christianity to a legal code. Such statements are as stupid as saying, "I don't play chess; I am a non-Christian." The definition of a Christian is based not on what you do, but who you are; who you are will determine what you do, and the right spirit behind what you do.
The definition of religion is "a set of rules, regulations, a system of beliefs or practices," whereby mankind tries to connect with God; this describes the majority of the world's religions. Christianity is the only religion that is not a "religion;" it is wrong to think "all religions are basically the same or are different paths to the same end." No, Christianity is defined as the "literal adoption of a person into an eternal personal relationship and fellowship with God and God's Family." The majority of the world's religions are devoted to people taking the initiative, turning inward or heavenward in the hopes of improving themselves, connect with God, and/or achieve some eternal reward; Christianity is the only "religion" where God took the initiative and reached down to us, and gives us not improved lives but a total new birth. John 3:16; Romans 5:8; Ephesians 1:5.
Jesus was God, made flesh, that through the flesh He might reconcile us back to God. Jesus was not just a "good teacher," or "prophet," someone speaking for or trying to lead us to God; Jesus claims to be God, speaks for Himself and leads people to Himself and God our Parent. Today, someone claiming to be God is put under psychiatric care; Jesus cannot be a good teacher and have a mental condition. No, you must decide what to do with Jesus; He is either who He says He is or He is not. By His Life, Jesus proves He is "God with us." John 1:14; 8:58; 10:24-39; Philippians 2:7; I Timothy 2:5; 3:16.
You were created with the freedom to choose. Love must be freely given and received. Through this freedom, you, like every other person, chose to go your own way, be your own boss, and the result is a break in fellowship, a break in Love, the true definition of "sin." If you look deeply within, you know you fail to live as you should, and know you are powerless to do otherwise. You feel separated; you want to have value, inner peace, purpose and a sense of belonging. Isaiah 53:6; Luke 15:11-32. In eternal Love for you, God sent God's Son, Jesus Christ, who knew no sin but only Love, that through belief on Him you might have restored your position in the Family of God by adoption. Matthew 26:28; John 3:16,18; Romans 5:8; 8:3, 32; Ephesians 2:8; Hebrews 9:22.
But, this restoration is not automatic. Just as you have the freedom to turn away from God, you have the freedom to turn to God, personally accept the Love Jesus Christ has for you, and turn away from the things in your life that are not Love. Salvation is "new birth, starting over, being born again," born or adopted into a new Family with a new clean heart, a new way of living and the Divine Power to live it anew. If you speak to Jesus, He shall come in your heart, abide with you, and send His Holy Spirit to enable you and empower you to live and walk in God's Love. John 5:24; Acts 2:21; Romans 10:9,13.
If you have not done this, if you do not know or think you are a member of God's Family, if you've been away from God, and know you aren't where you should be, I invite you to pray this prayer or words similar:
Dear God, I confess I feel alone, separate from you. I fear I have strayed, may have let You, other people and myself down. I want to come home, God. Today, I accept Jesus Christ's Love for me, I ask You God to cleanse my heart, come and make your home in me forever, help me to live the way you want me to live. I believe Jesus came for me, died for me, and arose from the dead for me. I love You God, I know in my heart You love me, and have given me new life. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
if you prayed this prayer.
