 | o...am I a world famous poet? No. Am I a poet? Probably not. In fact, I confess I generally do not care for poetry. |
So, why do I write poetry, especially gay, and gay Christian poetry? Why were these poems written? I don't really know. I think, like with music composition, it is a vehicle for the inner me who yearns to express himself.
 | I hope you like them; I know, with poetry, everyone has different interests and everyone thinks they know how a poem should be, so please be kind to my self-esteem with your comments. Hugs. |

I cannot tell the rose of my love's red lips: Full, rich, velvet touch, sweet to taste. For the rose is jealous and shares not its beauty, Wraps itself in a protective blanket of thorns.
I could not speak to the fawn of my love's soft skin: Smooth as a whisper, dark hair, inviting to touch. For the doe says there is none other as soft; And the fawn believes, nestles to its mother's breast.
I tried to describe to the grass my love's sweet eyes: Green and tan, mystical, changing, delicate in gaze. But the wind overpowered my voice and whipped the grass, Changing its colors, vainly trying to match their hue.
I turned to the angels to share of my love's spirit: Gentle, expressive, sensitive, thoughtful and caring. But angels cannot understand the human heart, Can but serve and behold the wonders of the love of men.
I cannot show or speak of my love with the world around: Hold hands, share the same side of a cafe table, Nor speak how I am the brighter for knowing him. The world won't listen, averts its eyes, strives to suppress.
Or can I?
This man can dare speak his heart, my love for him: Hold his hand, drink his smile, shout his name. For love celebrates even when rejected or when it speaks alone, Because...
I spoke to my Lord my heart, my love for him: Of his smile and lips, his spirit and eyes, his touch and soul. He replied, "I know, I understand, and My angels see. It is I, My son, who made him and share him with thee."

Some days are filled with little things Which Seem to multiply upon themselves, worry and trouble sent, Overwhelming, An unkind word, a thoughtless act, the shun of a believed friend.
Then I feel his arm encircle me; You pull me to you. I am accepted, Calm. Some days obligations outpace the assets, There Seems no hope or way to catch up, the tide I cannot bear, Overwhelmed, Debts, bills, unexpected repairs, the daily grind to make ends meet.
Then I feel his arm encircle me; You pull me close to you. I am richer than kings, Valuable.
Some days are long and slow Neither Moving forward or sliding backwards, no excitement or flair, Routine, I want to travel, explore, grow, but feel I am going nowhere.
The I feel his arm encircle me; You pull me closer to you. I am where I need to be, There.
What are you thinking When You pull me close, hold, Embrace, Stroke my hair, grip my chest, encircle me?
Do you sense my loneliness, Worry? Do you discern my rejection, Restlessness? My need for your heart, touch, feel and presence beside me?
Or, In your embrace do you need me? Do You have fears, worries, restlessness, doubts, Needs?
If I bought you diamonds, every emerald, sapphires blue, Gave Them as gifts to symbolize my devotion, Would I be believed, my gifts seen as symbols of my feelings for you?
If I took you around the world, Paris, London and Rome, Built You the home of your dreams, Shall I be believed, my tokens seen as symbols of my joy in you?
If I could write poetry, or beautiful symphonies, to Dedicate To you and display for all to view and hear, Can I be believed, my endeavors seen as a celebration of my pride in you?
If I could make more impassioned love to you, drive you Mad With desire...hot, deep, wet, intense... Am I believed, my heat seen as a fiery desire for you? Or, Has the gifts and songs, The words and deeds, The kiss and touch Of Persons past who proved less true, Tarnished and soured, hollowed and cheapened Anything I Bring
Or Do?
How then can I show, How then can I assure you, If not by gift, words, or touch, My Heart is true, my offerings genuine?
I cannot by doing, I can by being...
May I be your tears when you need to cry, May I be your strength when you do not want to try. May I be your legs when you do not want to go, May I be your heart when your soul you do not want to show. May I be the balm when the world gives you pain, May I be your sun when your sky seems to always bring rain.
May I be your treasure when resources seem bust, May I be the man in whom you'll ever
Trust.
Some days are filled with doubts, uncertainties, cares and woes, Which Make you wonder who can be believed, what to do, where to go, Overwhelming, You want to risk but not lose, want to live but not die in the trying. Then let your self feel my arm encircle you, I pull you to me. You are worthy, Loved.
May I always be.
Always,
Me.

Like music which uplifts and carries joy to your soul, To the soft rustling of wind through trees; Like the gentle lilt of water splashing in a brook, So is my lover's sweet, gentle voice to me.
Like a cool breeze touching skin on a warm afternoon, To the security of mother to the lamb; Like the grace of ballet, and the intensity of drama, So is my lover's strong, yet gentle, embrace to me.
What words have I to describe my soul, How it is touched and moved by his voice and embrace?
Like the warmth of sunshine on your face, To the crisp taste of snow upon the tongue; Like the feel of grass between bare toes, So is my lover's kiss to me.
Like the fragrance to the rose, To the fugue and its prelude; Like fire is to diamonds and calm is to sapphires, So, combined, is my lover's passion, feeling one with him, to me.
What words have I to describe my body, How it is touched and moved by his kiss and passion?
Like a handmade gift from a child, To the surprise visit of a distant friend; Like the joy of puppies at play, So is my lover's laugh a gift to me.
Like the beauty of polished marble, To the canvas of sky and sea; Like the lofty heights and the depths of valleys green, So is my lover's eyes to me. What words have I to describe my spirit, How it is touched and moved by his laugh and eyes?
What words have I? None.
I cannot find things to compare to him, To describe him, praise him, to celebrate him. I cannot in words, say how I feel about him, How he moves me, empowers, uplifts me, Teaches me.
Silence.
Like the birth of Spring, To the awe of bunnies in a glen; Like the aroma of Summer rain, the cry of a newborn calf, So is...
What can I do, what can I say? This poem fails. From the depths of this man's soul can I but utter three words, Simple and so often used, so often taken lightly, To sum up my feelings, my joy in him: "I love you."
